What we offer

Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.

Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

Gordon East Public School canteen mirrors our overall school community's values our holistic approach to the service we provide encourages responsible, respectful learners.

The canteen encourages students to take responsibility for their food choices and practice good manners and respect when utilising this service. We strive to expose the student body to healthy eating at school.

The canteen is currently open twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays during the school year (unless communicated otherwise). This service is a volunteer-based organisation that requires the assistance of parents and citizens' association (P&C) to volunteer in order to operate. There is a paid manager who overseas the day-to-day operations of the canteen as well as the volunteers.

The canteen committee (CC) is a group of Gordon East Public School parents/volunteers who sit on the P&C to ensure the canteen is sustainable for the Gordon East Public School community. The CC also ensures the canteen follows the 'fresh tastes at school' initiative.

Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:10am (the morning bell) to 1:30pm. This is broken into two shifts:

  • recess shift from 9:10am to 11:30am
  • lunch shift from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

Please email canteen@gordoneastpandc.org.au to register for your volunteer shift.

Lunch is available by pre-ordering online only via Flexischools. Lunch orders can be placed before 8.30am. Please see Flexischools for lunch options and prices. There are over-the-counter cash sales for recess (morning tea) as well as after lunch treats.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

Learn more about the NSW Department of Education’s School Uniform Policy.

Our uniform shop carries the full range of clothing items in sizes 4 to 16.

Orders for the uniform shop are also made online through Flexischool. Your order will be delivered to your child's classroom. Alternatively, you can visit the uniform shop on Tuesday morning between 8.30am - 9.30am. Email the uniform shop uniformshop@gordoneastpandc.org.au
